The Hygge of Online Yoga | Source Yoga

January 2022

These recent foggy days have made me think of the Danish word Hygge – a word that doesn’t have a direct English translation, but loosely translates to a mood or feeling of coziness and contentment. While it has been cold, damp, and foggy outside, we can cultivate a cozy feeling inside – candles, blankets, a fire, something warm to drink.

I think online yoga gives us the perfect opportunity for Hygge. We can get cozy at home, lay out our mat in our own space that we have made just right for us. We can light a few candles, dim the lights. We can wear our pajamas, we don’t have to drive anywhere, after practice we can get ourselves a hot cup of tea. Even better, we can cozy up with our furry friends for Savasana.

We keep hearing from you that you love your online classes, and maybe this is why!

Especially during the uncertainty of this time with the pandemic, we are happy to continue to provide a full schedule of classes so you can join us from the comfort of your own home.

(Feeling ok about coming to the studio? We are welcoming small groups {masked, distanced} into classes in North Tacoma).

This winter, we have a perfect opportunity to begin your day with steadiness and coziness: Join Shari Larson for a 6 week online morning series – Practicing Pranayama, Wednesday mornings 8-8:30am, beginning January 26th. Learn more here about this wonderful series focused on the breath.

Also, if you are expecting, or know someone who is, take a look at our online Prenatal series with Christine Hills, Tuesday evenings beginning this evening.

Wishing you some coziness and warmth,
