WHO IS YOGA FOR? Hint: If you can breathe, you can do yoga.
“Anybody can breathe, therefore anyone can practice yoga.”—T.K.V. Desikachar
You might be yoga-curious, but are intimidated to walk into a yoga studio. I get it. It can be scary to try something new, especially if all you see when you google “yoga” is pretzel-y, thin, young, white women (don’t do it – I just did, and that’s exactly what I saw).
You might have even tried yoga before and the class was too…something. Fast? Hot? Full of young, stretchy people? You might feel like you didn’t quite fit in. But who is yoga for, really? In its essence, yoga can be for everybody. But that takes finding a place you can you go that feels safe to try it out, learn basics at a comfortable pace, and learn how to adapt the movement to fit you.
If you would like to try out yoga in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment, join us for an easygoing 3 week series and learn more about how you don’t have to change your body to fit the yoga class, but how yoga can fit your body as it is.
Join Source Yoga teacher Megan Tuche for a 3 week Introduction to Yoga. This class is designed to teach fundamentals of yoga postures, how to adapt poses to work for your unique body, and breathing and mindfulness techniques to relieve stress and calm your nervous system. During your 3-week Intro class you will have a 2 week yoga membership to try out other classes (Megan will help you find the classes that are the perfect fit for you)!
Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and explore something new in a kind, supportive environment.
This class is designed for students who have never tried yoga and students who have tried yoga but feel they would benefit from revisiting some of the basics in a kindhearted community.
Preregistration is required.
Dates: Mondays January 29th – February 12th
Time: 7-8:15pm
