Let’s Take a Breath… | Source Yoga

March 20th, 2025

Hi Source friends,

I’ll invite you right here and right now to take a deep breath, nice and slow, deep and full. Hold it for a moment. And then let it out, a steady, relaxed exhale, feeling your shoulders and your jaw soften just a bit.

You could take another. I’ll wait…

And one more?…

I know there’s a lot you are holding. Keeping all the balls in the air. There’s work, family, friends, self-care, care for those around you, all while holding awareness of the uncertain times we are living in.

In between the stuff of life, you might go online to check out for a beat, and instead feel a plume of rage ignite within you as you see the latest news. Or you run into a friend and they ask you how you are and you reply “well, you know…” while shrugging off the anxiety just beneath the surface.

I try not to relate to any emotion as bad.

For instance, anger has a lot of energy. Anger can be fuel. Our anxiety can spur us to action. These difficult emotions can be indicators of what we deem unjust. None of that is bad. But when our anger, our anxiety, our fear runs the show? When our anxiousness makes us freeze up? When our anger explodes at the people around us, or we implode, beating ourselves up? That’s not helpful.

We know how important it is to remember to come back to our center. For one breath or ten. For a word of self kindness. For a softening of our body, for a settling of our nervous system.

That’s what we are here for. I will keep reminding you again and again. We (me, your teachers, the Source Yoga community) are in this together, and together, we can remember what is vital and important.

This month, join us to ground, nourish, connect, revitalize, and find calm during turbulent times. This might be in your weekly classes, through the upcoming 6 week series with Jeni Martinez (Movement, Mantra, and Meditation), through a workshop joining movement, intention, and live music at the end of the month with me (Welcoming Spring with Intention and Flowand with our other  offerings over the next few months.

Please check out what’s coming up below, and come and breathe and be nourished by your community at Source.

One more breath together? A deep, full inhale…hold…and a slow, releasing exhale.

Carry on!
