Hobbies/interests:

I enjoy reading, spending time with my 2 pugs, being in nature, surrounding myself with like-minded friends and communities, as well as experiencing solitude.

What non-yoga book are you reading/did you recently read?

I’m a voracious reader, but it seems that everything I read relates to yoga and/or mindfulness. The most non-yogic book I’ve most recently read is “In the Meantime” by Iyanla Vanzant. The most recent books I’ve read in the last 2 weeks are: “The Book of Chakras” by Ambika Wauters; “Chakra Yoga” by Alan Finger; “Teaching Yoga: Exploring the Teacher-Student Relationship” by Donna Farhi; “Yoga Nidra” by Richard Miller; “Yoga and the Twelve-Step Path” by Kyczy Hawk; “The Wisdom of Yoga” by Stephen Cope; “Kindfulness Meditation” by Ajahn Brahm.

What yoga book do you recommend?

There are so many amazing ones out there, it’s hard to know where to start! I would highly recommend reading Stephen Cope’s books, beginning with “Yoga and the Quest for the True Self”. For a daily meditation book, Rolf Gates’ “Meditations from the Mat” is a must!

What’s your favorite yoga practice/pose and why?

My favorite type of practice and pose can vary depending on what my mind, body and spirit are most in need of at that particular time. My deepest authenticity lies in the slower moving practices.

What’s one secret that helps you stay healthy?

I don’t know that it’s a secret, but maintaining a regular yoga and mindful meditation practice both on and off the mat is what keeps me healthy in my mind, body and spirit. As a recovering alcoholic/addict, leading and attending Y12SR classes regularly ensures I stay connected with a like-minded community and remain strong in my sobriety.

What’s something that currently inspires you?

Finding the courage to follow my passion and dream of becoming a full-time yoga instructor is what inspires me.  Knowing that I’m enrolled in my next 300 Hours of teacher training to begin in October and seeing lovely yogis around me who are succeeding at living their dreams, all contribute to my inspiration.

What’s your favorite place to travel?

My favorite place to travel is India. Although I haven’t been back in several years, I had the privilege of visiting there 4 times and deeply resonated with the rich history and culture. I look forward to the day when I can travel back to the Eastern countries again and spend time immersed in the culture from which yoga originated. I am also eagerly looking forward to my first trip to Spain in September 2017.

Anything you want to share with our community?

I want to share my deepest gratitude for the sacred Source community. Together we all contribute to cultivating this mindful and supportive community that means so much to so many. I am deeply honored and grateful to be part of such an inclusive fellowship, and to be a conduit to share my experience, strength and hope with others through yoga.

Can you share a favorite recipe?

My favorite thing to make at home are high protein smoothies…the best one I can recommend is from Emerald City Smoothie and it’s “The Emerald with Peanut Butter”. Yum! As a busy teacher who often travels quite a bit in a day, this is a good way to get in healthy calories while not feeling too full to teach or practice.
