Intentional Birthing Through Yoga with Christine Hills

Date: Mondays, 10/18 – 11/15/2021, 6:30 – 8:00pm PST; Online via zoom

You’ve chosen your midwife/doctor/doula. You’re eating well, walking, sleeping (somewhat). You’ve ordered the stroller, the carrier, the crib. Birth plan: check. Breast pump: double check. What to do now??

The answer: Breathe. Notice. Move your body. Breathe again. Notice more. Simply BE.

Be with yourself, your baby, your partner. Through mindful awareness and practices rooted in the traditions of yoga, prepare for the birth of your baby with intention:

  • Learn mindfulness strategies to bring you back into the power of the Present Moment, instead of mentally travelling to the Land of What-If’s or the Island of Self-Doubt.
  • Practice carefully chosen yoga postures and positions to guide you through each stage of labor.
  • Breathe with an equal balance of effort and ease; discover how your breath can be your most reliable birthing coach.
  • Recognize that birthing pain has a divine purpose; embrace techniques that uncover your own strength, power and resolve.
  • Partners, engage in the process of birthing your baby through hands-on adjustments, relaxation techniques, and focused connection.
  • In being present, you prepare.

A birthing class like no other, in this 5-week series you will dive deep into your own breath and body, connect with your partner, and together offer support and nourishment for yourself, each other, and your baby.

5-week series for birthing parents and a partner

Christine Hills (E-RYT, YACEP, ICEA-trained) is grateful to draw upon her knowledge and experience from the teachings of yoga, mindfulness, biomechanics, physiology, and the beautiful transitions of birthing a new life and matrescence. She has shared the practice of yoga with students of all ages and stages since 2002. Having welcomed her own three children into this world, she since then continues to enjoy their company most of the time.
