Kelly’s yogic journey began in a class right here at Source Yoga. Inspired by the teachers and Source community, she went on to receive her 200-hour teaching certificate with Theresa Elliott & Kathryn Payne of Pacific Yoga in Seattle. She brings humor, passion, and fun to teaching, and especially loves teaching beginners. “Too numerous to mention, my goal as a teacher is to share the profound gifts that practicing yoga has given me.” You can also see Kelly behind the desk in her role as studio manager.

Hobbies/interests:
Off-leash adventures in the woods and trails with my 11-year-old boxer Olivia. That girl really knows how to be in the moment! Also, I love doing projects; recently I learned how to change the oil and tire on my motorcycle. Flower gardening – I can identify and name a surprising list of local flora.
What non-yoga book are you reading/did you recently read?
I just finished Lily and the Octopus, by Steven Rowley. It’s a story about the relationship between the author and the love of his life; his aging wiener dog Lily who has cancer. Unfortunately, this experience is very real to me right now, so I read things like this to get some insight into dealing with what is happening currently and the inevitable.
What yoga book do you recommend?
Yoga and the Quest for the True Self, by Stephen Cope. I read this several years before I ever took a yoga class, but I was quite intrigued. I think this book may have planted the seed.
What’s your favorite yoga practice/pose and why?
I find something in EVERY practice. The thing I love most about any practice is taking that time on my mat to completely clear my head and get into my body and breath. I try to do as much of the practice as possible with my eyes closed. Suffice it to say, I don’t have a favorite practice or pose each one is unique.
What’s one secret that helps you stay healthy?
Moving about in nature. I love the smells and sounds of the forest – so healthy for the mind, body and spirit.
What’s something that currently inspires you?
Tiny living. Learning how to live with less, more simply. I hope to be able to go off the grid someday and growing my own food.
What’s your favorite place to travel?
Right now it’s Montana where my son and grandchildren live. It’s so beautiful and open and I get all giddy inside when I see wildlife. Yes, even squirrels.
Anything you want to share with our community?
I LOVE Mondays! How many people can say THAT? I love coming to work every day. I get to work and help a great community of students, teachers and staff. My favorite thing about this community is that there is no sense of competition. I think that is one of the key reasons I stayed.
Can you share a favorite recipe?
My favorite recipe is: Someone else cooking for me!
