Mindfulness at Source Yoga
Mindfulness is both an innate human ability, and it is practices which develop this ability. Mindfulness is present moment awareness. It is being present to what is happening while it is happening, without judgment. Mindfulness is being present to our experience with awareness in a relaxed and spacious way.
Mindfulness is a way of bringing more presence, clarity, acceptance, and wisdom to each moment and to life. Mindfulness practice can provide the space for deep insight to arise – into who we are, how our minds work, what causes us pain, and what can create freedom.
Formal mindfulness practice is our intentional time for practice, where we practice bringing awareness to what arises through meditation – seated, walking, lying down, or standing, or on our yoga mat through a mindful attention to our body in our yoga practice.
Informal mindfulness practice is being present to the moments of daily life – eating, working, playing, washing dishes, brushing our teeth, being with our family and friends. When we bring deliberate attention to the things that we do on a daily basis, we begin to cultivate an ongoing awareness and wake ourselves up to the simple moments of living.
Weekly Online Mindfulness Meditation Class
Mindfulness practice is integrated in many of our yoga asana classes. Join Studio owner Erin Joosse and Source Yoga Community members for a weekly drop in meditation, Mondays 11-11:30am online. Additionally, we offer various workshops, series, and retreats with a mindfulness focus and included periods of meditation.
