If you have some previous yoga experience and are wanting to start slowly, you may consider our gentle classes, which are geared towards beginners and a wonderful place to start exploring the world of yoga. Our instructors are skilled and knowledgeable and can help you with any special needs or concerns. If you need special attention, please arrive early to let your instructor know.
Intro to Yoga SERIES
If you’re brand new to yoga, we encourage you to pre-register for the Intro. Series that runs every 6 weeks. These 6-week programs are designed to teach the fundamentals of yoga postures, breathing and mindfulness for students who are brand-new to yoga. A detailed description of each class in this series is available.
Gentle Yoga for 50+
Gentle movements, strengthening exercises at a comfortable pace for those that tried yoga years ago and weren’t sure if it was the right fit, think they are either too stiff, or have the wrong body type or are working with injuries. This class will help guide you safely through a yoga practice to suite your personal needs.
Basic Level I
This class will focus on basic postures, proper alignment, breathing, and relaxation. These classes are appropriate for beginners in the Intro. Series.
Basic Level I-II
In this class there is a focus on strength-building with a slow paced flowing sequence of postures that will both challenge you and prepare you for more intermediate postures including inversions. Some yoga experience required.
Boot Camp Yoga-Primal Move
Take your yoga up a notch! Combine the grace and intelligence of yoga with the strength-building of personal training. Using Primal Move, the latest innovative fitness trend, you will build strength that enhances your yoga as well as the movements of your everyday life. The goal of Primal Move is to move better…with playful, beautiful, and mindful movements that can reach the flow state, reteaching the central nervous system and filling up the brain with good information. You will be taken through a step-by-step protocol where you discover a new type of movement system: one where we practice, using body and mind, to reach a better quality of life.
Flow & Let Go
This is a class for mixed levels of students with a flowing sequence of postures combined with restorative postures to provide rejuvenation and relaxation. Some yoga experience required.
Intermediate
This class is for the intermediate student. You will explore a flowing sequence of poses, strength building and inversions. You will be challenged and explore your edges of what you may think is possible both physically and mentally. There will be a focus on the building blocks to more advanced postures. It is strongly recommended that you are comfortable in Mixed Levels.
Introduction to Meditation
In this series, we explore the basics of mindfulness meditation. We practice paying attention in the present moment, using a variety of meditation techniques. There will be time for group discussion and questions. Must pre-register.
Mixed Levels
In this class there will be multiple variations offered for varying levels of students. Comfort in Basic Level I & I-II classes is recommended. This class is not appropriate for beginners.
Relax and Restore
This is a slow-paced class which emphasizes slowing down, relaxation, and meditation. Appropriate for beginners, people seeking to relax, or just looking for a gentle practice.
Sunrise Yoga
Starting our day with quiet reflection, this all-levels practice focuses on a long, thorough warm up, energizing and waking the body. Through balancing strength, mobility and breath, you will begin your day grounded, focused and clear. Some yoga experience is required.
Prenatal
This is a class for all moms-to-be. There will be gentle variations on traditional yoga postures that specifically benefit the needs of pregnant women. No yoga experience necessary. Click here for detailed information .
Mom and Baby/Postnatal Yoga
New moms come back into their bodies with gentle strength building, stretching, and have bonding time with their little one. Infants and crawlers welcome. For detailed information click here.
Wee Ones Yoga
This class is creative, interactive and playful for kids ages 1-5 and a parent/caregiver. Through yoga, movement, games and song your child will develop body awareness, social, and motor skills. Give your child a place to be their true, radiant selves! Wee Ones Yoga is scheduled for the 2nd & 4th Wednesday each month. 10:00 – 10:30am at the North Tacoma Studio.
Kirtan
Join Jeannine Maxwell and Friends for Kirtan! Using simple, repetitive songs and chants, Kirtan can carry us effortlessly to a place of quiet. There will be Sanskrit songs from ancient India as well as English contemporaries. Come join in the community fun and profound gathered stillness! No singing experience necessary. Kirtan is scheduled for the 4th Friday of the month (7-8:30PM) at our North Tacoma studio with Jeannine Maxwell and friends. Cost: $5 suggested donation to the Source Yoga Scholarship Fund.
